Understory

Four effect modules, twenty-eight effects, and one knob each for the thing that matters. A character console for anything you run through it.

We'll only email you about Understory.

On iPad? The Understory iPad beta is open on TestFlight.

The Understory window: a fallen log across a twilight forest floor above four effect cards -- GRIT, SWAY, GLOW and GRAIN -- each with three knobs and a volume slider.

Four modules

Twenty-eight effects, in the order you choose

Each module holds seven effects and shows three knobs: the one that defines the effect, AMOUNT, and a third that changes with the model. Drag the cards to reorder the chain — any of the twenty-four orders, in series.

Gesture

Record a move. Loop it.

Press record, turn any knobs you like, press stop. Understory plays the movement back as a loop — a slow filter sweep, a tremolo that breathes, a drive that leans in on every bar — and keeps playing it while you go on shaping everything else. One gesture per preset, saved with it.

Everything else you'd expect

Twelve factory presets across WARMTH, DRIVE, MOTION, SPACE and LO-FI to start from. A dice that rerolls the whole console with one-step undo. A/B compare. Per-module bypass and volume. Tooltips that say what a knob does in this model, not in general. And a scene that responds to what you're doing, because a plugin you look at for an hour should be a place worth looking at.

Inside Sylvaris too

Twenty-seven of these effects are also reachable inside Sylvaris — the Grit models in GNARLS, Echo and Worn in DELAY, Space, Spring and Gate in REVERB, and fifteen more on the UNDERSTORY card. Understory is the same DSP as its own plugin, for the rest of your session.
